How We Serve

Service is the ultimate expression of our love for each other. Find out how you can serve others at Messiah. Check out our weekly Bulletin Board and monthly Newsletter to learn about current opportunities to serve.

We serve one another in weekly worship as nursery workers, communion assistants, ushers, readers of scripture, musicians, technical assistants, and members of the altar guild, which is responsible for beautification of the worship space. We serve before and after worship as members of the welcome committee, greeters, and by providing coffee and treats for socializing during coffee hour.  We serve each other throughout the week by praying for one another, sending care cards for condolence or congratulations, sewing, studying the Bible together, leading and teaching our children and teens, socializing through peer groups and sporting activities, and maintaining the church facilities, technology and administration.

Messiah Lutheran Church is a member of Reynoldsburg community ministries Joseph’s Coat Clothing and Furniture Ministries andHEART Food Pantry. We also serve our community through shut-in visitation, serving the hungry at the YMCA Family Center, Faith Mission, and Lutheran Social Services Food Pantry, and through the annual Christmas Giving Tree, which provides Christmas gifts to children of needy families in our community. We also serve a weekly meal every Wednesday night, opening our doors to our local neighbors and offering Christian education, activities, and worship to family members of all ages.

Messiah Lutheran Church is a member congregation of the Southern Ohio Synod of the ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America). Through our parent organizations, we support a variety of global ministries, including ELCA World Hunger, Global Missions, and Lutheran World Relief, which provides funding and volunteer aid in times of natural disaster and other urgent need.
