Confirmation Sunday

We are proud that 10 young men and woman affirmed their baptism this past Sunday. Throughout the year they have had many opportunities to continue in the covenant with the church, God, and their parents made with them in their baptisms. One of the ways in which they were able to make these promises their own, was to write a creed. The creeds were personal statements of belief. On Sunday morning they shared 3 sentences from their creed for the congregation. These are the 3 sentences that each of our young men and women shared.

Kayla Hill
“I believe that God is the creator of Earth and Heaven and that God will forgive my sins. I also believe that Jesus died on the cross for us. I believe that everybody should be loved no matter what they look like, how they act, or how they dress. Everybody should be loved for what is on the inside.”

Alyson Shaw
“I believe that we are all God’s children. I believe that anyone can say they’re Christian, but you have to show it by how you live your life. I believe that its important to encourage others to feel God’s love.”

Katie Barrett
“I believe we should come together to spread the word of God. I believe we should treat others the way we want to be treated. I believe we should live in a peaceful world.”

Ashley Cochran
“I believe the Lord can heal pain and suffering. I believe you will find peace with the Lord. Jesus save us all from our sins and the Lord is with me all the time even in my times of darkness and need. I believe we should make friends with our enemies.”

Emily Corcoran
“I believe that I can do anything under God. I believe that my mother and father’s love is unconditional. I believe that all God’s children are important”

Willie Dunham
“I believe that I should praise God, worship him and follow in the ways he wants me to do. I believe that he is our shepherd that watches over every single one of us. I believe that despite all of our wrong doings he cleanses us of those things we do wrong and forgives us.”

Seth Diehm
“I believe God has a good sense of humor, that he does not just sit up there with a frown. I know that he laughs and smiles with us. I believe that God is a shield that protects me from anything and everything, except those things that make me stronger.”

Dillon Griewe
“I believe a relationship with God is the most fundamental part of being a Christian. I believe our relationship with God ensures all the benefits granted to us by God and that our relationship can be strengthened through prayer. I believe that from our relationship with God, God grants us eternal joy, though not always in the ways we always expect.”

Elizabeth Wallace
“I believe that God works in mysterious ways. I believe that my family and friends will always be by my side no matter what. I believe that God loves me just the way that I am and God would want me to use the gifts he has given me to help the world.”

Amara Sheriff
“I believe that the Lord answers prayers because I pray often to thank God and ask for forgiveness. I also ask for strength to study for every test and he always fulfills my prayers. The Lord is my father and he is raising me in the path that he built just for me.”
