Beloved and be Loved

This is a new ministry we are launching . By clicking on the site below, you can share with me and one of our members who is helping me with this ministry a need you might have or a gift you have to share. Maybe, you need food delivered, groceries picked up, or just a call to say hi and check in. Maybe, you need an electric bill paid. Just ask. Use the same form too, to share what gifts you can give. Maybe, you are able to watch someone’s child for a day or run an errand. Maybe, you want to pay someone’s electric bill. This will be done anonymously. Only myself and the other member will read this and try to match it up. I am not sure we can meet all the needs out there, but we can make a run at it. Peace, Pastor Karl

You Are Invited!

Come and observe Holy Week with us this year.

Palm Sunday, April 5, 2020, 8:00 AM, 9:30 AM, 11:00 AM

This is a grand celebration with a palm parade. Jesus as our King, but a different sort of king than the world has ever known.

Maundy Thursday, April 9, 2020, 7:30 PM

Come, remember Jesus’ last night with his disciples, share the meal he shared with them and take part in a striking ritual to prepare us for his trial and execution the next day.

Good Friday, April 10, 2020, 7:30 PM

This is possibly the most moving worship of the entire . We worship, remembering Jesus’ trial, torture and execution, bringing together in a powerful way ritual, prayers, and music.

Saturday Vigil, April 11, 2020, 7:30 PM

Our worship begins quietly in the dark, as we wait. We build with hopefulness, as new disciples are welcomed in baptism, and end with a wonderful parade into the sanctuary to announce the resurrection!

Easter Morning!, April 12, 2020, 8:00 AM, 9:30 AM, 11:00 AM

Come celebrate the resurrection! Jesus is risen! Flowers, brass, wonderful music, parades, all come together to fill our hearts with love and hope.

Messiah’s Life Together Updates

Good morning Messiah,
I hope all is well with you and your family. I know I am getting tired, weary and overwhelmed with the thought that this isolation could be with us through May. I am praying daily for the safety of our health care workers and essential workers, and healing for those sick and for my own heart to be patient and trust the wisdom given to me, “This too shall pass”.
I am encouraged at your faithfulness worshiping virtually live on Sunday morning at 10 as a church. It is important we continue to worship as a community. Ministry continues too, at Messiah. I am gathering groups for education and fellowship throughout the week. We prepared and delivered a meal to over 100’s of people at Faith on Eighth and First English in the last two weeks and will prepare delivers meals to Choices and Y Family Shelter after Easter. Plus, we made 30 Easter Baskets for the school age children at Choices Domestic Abuse Shelter.
The landscape committee is gearing up to take care of our grounds. Our community garden is starting to see some life, too. Linda continues to work in our office from 8:30-4:30 Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Jude every day of the week. Call up and say hi to Linda, but please to keep Jude and Linda safe. Don’t come into the church during these hours unless you absolutely need to. I miss you all in this holiest of weeks.
Below are some announcements to keep in mind.

TAKE A MINUTE THIS WEEK TO VIDEO YOU OR SOMEONE IN YOUR FAMILY JOYFULLY SAYING AMEN! SEND IT TO AIDEN STOUGHT, AIDENWSTOUGHT@GMAIL.COM. WE WANT TO HAVE YOUR AMEN BE OUR AMEN IN WORSHIP IN THE WEEKS AHEAD.

Holy Week – We will only be creating one Holy Week service this year. We did not want to bring our crew of worship leaders out three times before Easter.
So tune in on Maundy Thursday, April 9 at 7:00 PM.
We will be sharing a Good Friday and Saturday Vigil worship service that our bishop and the Synod Office is preparing for their churches.

Messiah Easter Celebration! We need you! This week video or take a still shot of you announcing the good news of Jesus’ resurrection with a shout, artwork, drawings by your kids, coloring page of Alleluia!, puppets, driveway chalk, whatever your imagination allows. At the end of the Easter sermon, we are going to share this joy and remind all of us that we are worshiping together the risen king. Send your gift as soon as you can to Becky Kirkwood, beckykirkwood@gmail.com.

Join us each Wednesday at 1:00pm when Pastor Karl shares his weekly Bible Study.
Our next Pub Theology will be April 21 at 7:00pm.  We hope you will tune it.  Look for more details.
Church council will gather virtually next Tuesday, April 14 at 7:00 p.m.  We ask our ministry chairs to send their reports as usual to Linda at lthompson@messiahlutheran.net by early Thursday morning, April 9.

If you are looking for a way to practice socially distancing…
We are looking for mowers for this summer.  Through the charity of our members, we now have 2 riding mowers.  The goal is to have 2 volunteers scheduled each week, and to split the property so that each volunteers will have to spend only a couple hours “RIDING” around on a tractor. And maybe a little trimming and edging.
This is a fun and easy way to serve our church and enjoy the outdoors.  We have a zero turn mower and a smaller tractor mower.
This is an effort that keeps our church looking beautiful on the outside.  If you are interested, please contact Paul Sheridan via facebook or via email or phone to get scheduled.  Paul Sheridan – sheridan.pd@gmail.com
